Get Your Fix On!

Do you have time to browse the mall, checking out the latest styles, fluttering in and out of the fitting room trying on outfits and then creatively putting outfits together?

Yeah, me neither.

I honestly have felt that my ‘style’ was somewhat missing – I do like basics – t-shirts and jeans, but sometimes I feel like an old fuddy-duddy.  I don’t have time or really the interest to be creative with my clothes.  I am classically basic.  No big surprises for me.

I don’t browse the pinterest boards looking at fashion, it is decorating and home making stuff.  I am okay with that, but sometimes a girl wants to change it up a bit, you know?  Taking care of me is important!

I was lucky enough the read about a new site called Stitch Fix about a month ago.  You tell them what you like, your size, they shop and send you the items. You get to try them on, the items comes with little ‘cheat sheet’ cards with examples of outfits you can make {this is by far the best part for creatively challenged fashionistas} you keep what you want and return what you don’t.  It is the best thing – plus if you keep all the items you get a 25% discount too.

Here is how it works:

Fill Out Your Style Profile

You tell Stitch Fix information on your size, shape, style, price preferences, and lifestyle.  You can add all kinds of comments – and they really look at them!  You pay a $20 styling fee up front, which serves as credit toward anything in your Stitch Fix shipment.

Get Your Fix & Try It On

You will receive five hand-picked items of clothing and accessories with tips on how to wear each one.  I got my box and took out my four clothing pieces and a necklace, forgot to take a picture of that little thing.

Decide What to Keep

This is the hardest part – I was lucky, I was due for some updated clothes, so I ended up keeping all the items I was sent, but if the budget was slim, I would have had to really narrow it down.  It is easy to return though, they send you a pre-paid mailing bag – toss them in and drop it off.

You will want to make sure to try everything on – because I found that even if I didn’t think I liked it, after I got it on, I was pleasantly surprised.  It is great that you can look through your own closet as you try on, deciding what else you have that can combine to create different outfits.  The excitement of opening the tissue was so fun!

Check Out Online

Within 3 days you will check out online – giving final payment and also sharing feedback and what you liked and didn’t like.  This is helpful for your next order – your ‘personal stylist’ {doesn’t that sounds ritzy?} gets better over time if they know what worked and what didn’t for you.

I can honestly say that I will be continuing my fixes!  I’ve signed up for my next one for the end of March, time to save some money up and sell my other clothing, that I don’t wear – and grab some more funds to get new stuff that I am excited to wear.

I honestly would have never picked the cream sweater off the rack to try on and would probably have not picked the photostitchgreen shirt either.  I love that someone else saw something that I didn’t and I was able to.  Here I wore the sweater and button down shirt that was sent in my box out to meet some girlfriends.  My son took the photo for me – he did pretty good!  I also got a great denim jacket – can’t wait to wear that with some casual dresses!
