“In the name of God, stop a moment. Cease your work, look around.” -Leo Tolstoy
Jenny’s Take: I know that we are all busy beyond measure in these modern times. If it’s not the office demanding your attention, it’s the laundry, or an aging parent, a needy friend, an empty refrigerator. But guess what – all of that will still be there if you don’t attend to it right away. So, if you do nothing else today, do this- Stop all the activity, just for a moment, and be still. Listen to the hum of your house or the laughter of your kids. Breathe deeply the smell of the summer grass and watch as fireflies come out at dusk. Feel the warmth of your child’s back as you hug them goodnight. And most of all, look around at the multitude of blessings that you have been granted.

Confident Mom’s Take: This is so timely for me right now I could not resist sharing it. So my secret I hinted at last week in my post will be revealed to you – we have our first Foster Child in our home, a newborn baby that arrived in our home 3 hours after we got the call and said YES! He is 9 days old today, and in our home now two hours short of a week. So needless to say my life has been thrown in a complete loop and more! My work has ceased, not necessarily by choice, but by need. A newborn arriving unexpectedly is a shock to the system. It is one thing to be anticipating this, and we have been anticipating this day that we would provide a safe place for a child, and left the rest to God. My heart has always been to have a baby, so He has provided this to me, if even for a short time. You never know how long or much information at all in this journey of fostering, but it ultimately will be a test of our faith and hope. My life is full of blessings, and even though sleep deprived, a little giddy and smelling like baby spit up – I am enjoying every minute! What can you do today to stop and take in the blessings you have today?

Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.” I have it on my wall, and say it through out the day.
The still quiet moments of life are some of my favorites.
Drink in the perfume of spitup! God Bless.
Thank you! Yes, this little guy has brought a re-centering to my life right now, even in the midst of sleep deprivation!
Congratulations! How exciting! Oh how I miss the smell of a little baby! (Now I have the smells of teens around the house
)
You are doing a wonderful thing by caring for this infant, what a lucky child. I know you feel blessed, but thank God you are there to help him.
I wish you some restful nights and endless joy.
Kris
By the way, better get out shopping for those designer diapers…hee hee
Congratulations!!! You are truly blessed! About 4 1/2 years ago we were placed with a newborn foster son who is now our son. The journey has taken us to places we’d never dream of going and blessed us beyond our imaginations. May you also be blessed with sleep, too! Enjoy…
I would love to talk to you more about your experience Camille – let me know if you would be willing to share.
