Natural Remedies For Allergy Sufferers

Allergies – it is that time of year.  The annoying sneezing, watery eyes, swollen nasal passages, runny nose, itching, congestion, red eyes and more.  I used to regret the coming of spring, along with the rest of my family.  I was allergic to all types of grass and trees, which made enjoying spring very difficult – even going into summer.

I was on several different prescription medications – including:  Pantanase, Flonase, Omnaris and took Allergra everyday – and STILL had symptoms.  Oh and I had even taken 4 years of allergy shots – to no avail.

I was miserable.

Then there were my kids, my middle two boys suffered just as much as I did – and for one, we had to get prescription eye drops too.  The expense was ridiculous and I hated the thought of all those drugs, but we had to breath and I didn’t know what else to try…until last year.

Here is how we used to handle allergies at our house – with all this.

Here is how we handle allergies now!

Last year we started something different.  I began incorporating Young Living essential oils into our routine, after I began using them to overcome my chronic, life-long depression.  I learned about three oils that came in my Premium Starter Kit  were perfect to battle allergy symptoms – so I decided to give them a try.

They are Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint.  (Affectionately known as the LLP)

Now we can easily handle allergies with pure and natural Young Living Essential Oils.

Here is what we do:

Peppermint, lemon and lavender are cleansing oils, so diffusing these oils in your home on a regular basis will help to reduce pollens and allergens.   This is my first step in my attack.  I pop Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint – about 4 drops each in the diffuser and let that baby go.  If I will be cleaning and releasing a lot of dust into the air, this is my go-to oil blend for the diffuser.

You can also inhale the three directly from the bottle too – this works well if you are out and about.

You can apply 2-3 drops of each oil and place it directly on the bottoms of your feet or at the back of your neck.

The Easy-Peasy Way – Blend pre-mixed

You can simply take an empty bottle, I happened to use an empty Lavender bottle  and it was about 1/4 full, I added in 40 drops of Lemon and 40 drops of Peppermint.  I added about 1/2 teaspoon of Grapeseed oil, just because  I wanted to, you do not need to – popped a roller ball topper and this mix is good to go.  Easy to put on the bottoms of your feet, roll on the back of your neck or even just inhale with the top off.

Yes, you can take Young Living Oils in a capsule or a few drops in a Tablespoon of honey!  I love to make a capsule but placing 2-3 drops of Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint in a clear vegetable capsule along with a carrier oil, like my Grapeseed {I use this} and swallow with a big glass of water.

The essential oils found in citrus fruit such as oranges, tangerines, and lemons, have an antihistamine effect and may help relax nasal passages—giving your stuffed nose some relief – {source}

Local, Raw honey

This is a step we began last year as I became aware that eating local, raw honey, even just a spoonful a day, can build immunity through gradually exposure. The idea is that bees become covered in pollen spores when they go from one flower to the next — spores which are then transferred to their honey.

This is something we continue to do and it gives two benefits – we get the gradual immunity being built up and we can support a local bee keeper!  So put your oils in the honey or use it in your tea every day – just a bit!

NingXia Red

This incredible antioxidant drink, which contains some of the highest known antioxidant fruit juices with the strongest anti aging effects gives a powerful punch for allergies.  It has Ningxia wolf berry puree, Blueberry, Plum, Cherry, Aronia and Pomegranate juice PLUS a great blend of essential oils, including orange, tangerine and lemon essential oil.

I take a 1 oz shot each day which helps my immune system {I swear this is the reason I have not been sick in over a year, except for my sinus infection, and you can see how I healed that with oils and natural remedies too!} plus it helps me fight off the allergy inflammation.  With my Systemic Lupus diagnosis I have to be very aware of NOT getting sick, my body is not good at fighting off infection, but with natural remedies I am healthier now than even before I was diagnosed with a chronic disease.

If my body is healthy it can more easily deal with inflammation which is caused from allergens.  Antioxidants help fight off the inflammation that causes allergies – this is where NingXia Red really comes into play to help my body.

Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

This magical liquid I just discovered back when I healed my sinus infectionwell, to be honest, I learned of it long ago, but never could muster the idea of taking it internally.  But you know what, I did and it works fabulously!

The best way to use apple cider vinegar {I use this one} for your allergies is on a consistent basis.  So for the next several months I will take about 1 tablespoon ACV in a glass of water or mix it into a mug of hot tea with some local raw honey.  I usually can get by with doing this just in the morning, but if things get particularly intense, I add in a dose before bed too.

The apple cider vinegar promotes alkalinity and PH balance of the body, which is one reason why it works great as a natural remedy to ward off all types of allergies.  Give it a try – it really does work.  I found that even with my sinus infection that within 5 minutes my plugged up head ran out like a faucet.  Magical.

I wish I had learned about essential oils sooner, but so glad I began when I did.

If you want more information on how all these God given Essential Oils can help you and your family ward off other issues – not just allergies – I invite you to attend our LIVE Facebook event tonight at 6:15 PM PDT/ 8:15 CDT.  We had over 400 people attend the last time we did this, it was so much fun.

DIY Morning Citrus BLAST Body Wash

Hello to all of you who are visiting for the ‘DeTox Your Home‘ series which began yesterday over at MyBlessedLife!   We left off yesterday with Brandy sharing her Summer Misting Spray – so I am here to start off the rounds for today!

I have to admit on the scale from 1 to 10 of being a “make your own” kinda gal – I am about a 4.  There are only a few things that I will step out and do, not only for time value but it also depends on how important it is to me – one is body wash!!

When I tried a recipe for DIY Homemade Body Wash this past summer, it was a huge hit.  Not only for me, but for all you who left comments and tried it for yourself.

I love a good body wash – and one that will wake me up in the morning is even better – plus this one smells very much like SPRING!   Here is the Easy Peasy Recipe:

DIY Morning Citrus Blast Body Wash

8 oz of unscented liquid Castille soap  {here is the brand I use}

40 drops Young Living Orange Essential Oil

40 drops Young Living Grapefruit Essential Oil

3 droppers Vitamin E Oil   (optional – I add it to the body wash to help protect and repair the skin)  {here is the brand I use}

Pour 8 oz of liquid soap into a glass measuring container – do not use plastic due to the citrus oils!

Add 40 drops Young Living Orange Essential Oil

Add 40 drops Young Living Grapefruit Essential Oil

Add 3 droppers Vitamin E Oil

Mix together and store in a GLASS container for use – again, do not use plastic due to the citrus oils.  I found my cute bottle with a stopper at Hobby Lobby – but you could also use an Olive Oil dispenser, that was what I originally had tried to find, but this was cute and just the right size!

Not only does this body wash smell incredible – the 100% pure therapeutic grade oils that Young Living is known to provide.

Orange Oil properties include:  anticancer, antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, and digestive.  It can be very helpful for digestive issues, supports the immune system, helps with emotional balance and skin issues.  When smelling you may be increasing peace and happiness to the mind and body, joy to the heart which provides invaluable emotional support to help one overcome depression.  {SOURCE}

Grapefruit Oil properties include:  antidepressant, antiseptic, disinfectant, diuretic and stimulant.  It can be very useful when dealing with anorexia, bulimia, cellulite, indigestion, obesity, overeating, postpartum depression and weight  loss.  Grapefruit is great for helping to relieve anxiety and it is emotionally uplifting and balancing – perfect to start your morning!  {SOURCE}

If you try out the recipe, I would love to hear what you think!

Kick a Sinus Infection in Just TWO Days!

I normally only do a couple ‘oily posts’ a month, but I could not wait to share with you what has transpired at my house the past few days.  It has been rough and I am so thankful that my husband was around to pick up the slack.

I had been suffering from some pretty uncomfortable pressure in my ears for several days that would not let up.  Then it started….that constant pain in your head, just above your eyes where you feel like your head is going to explode.

I am on a journey to learning to live without the over use of prescription and over the counter medication.  I cannot even tell you how long it has been since I took an aspirin, tylenol,  my prescription strength Ibuprofen – or needless to say, Day-Quil or any other cold medication. I have not had to….with my regular daily routine of using Young Living essential oils I have remained healthy – until this.

I had no cold symptoms, so this sinus infection snuck up on me.  It started with a bit of pressure in my ears about a week ago, I didn’t give it much consideration – it was just annoying.  Then the pressure was a bit painful.  I used Lemon, Lavender and Melrose around my ears, but it wasn’t seeming to kick the inflammation.  Then the headache hit and for two days I was in pain and a real grouchy mom.  I hate that.

I did some research in my Essential Oils Reference Guide (my go-to bible for oil use!!) and also asked a group of ladies who share in moderating our private Oily Family Room Facebook group what else I could try, because I was dying with this headache.  They shared a great wealth of information and I was grateful – here is what I did.

Tuesday Evening:

De-Tox bath

I took a hot bath, which contained 1 cup Epsom Salts as well as 8 drops Rosemary EO and 4 drops Idaho Balsam Fir EO.  I soaked for 20 minutes and also drank a cup of my favorite Lemon Ginger tea with Lemon oil in it.

Sinus Infection Buster BOMB

I took this recipe in a 00 size Capsule at 7 PM, 10 PM and then again in the morning 7 AM.

Diffused overnight

I took my favorite diffuser, the MIU {I love that the flow comes out to the side and I can point it directly toward my side of the bed!!) and diffused RC oil blend all night.  In addition, I brought our vaporizer into the bedroom which added just a bit more moisture to the air, which I know helps me.  Just to clarify, I do not add oils to the vaporizer, just my diffuser.

I was in bed at 8 PM – yes, seriously!

Wednesday AM

I felt horrible when I woke and was so discouraged.  More often than not, when I feel something coming on and take action with oils, I will beat it by the morning. This is when I pleaded for more help from my friends.  They gave it to me so I added the following to my regiment:

Apple Cider Vinegar

I had heard others talk about ACV in regard to cold and flu remedies, but had never tried it.  I hate new experiences like Neti pots (never gonna get me to do that one again!) and also weird tasting concoctions, but I was in serious pain and did not want to go on an antibiotic.

I am learning more and more about the importance of my overall health and how my gut health is critical to helping my body be at it’s best.  Taking even one course of an antibiotic can be very harmful to my gut flora, you can read more on that here, or here.  If I can avoid taking an antibiotic, or one of my family members can avoid it, I will do almost anything!

I was told to take Organic Apple Cider Vinegar,  ”as much as I could take” during the day.  So I grabbed my favorite cup of tea and added about 1/4 cup in the mug.  I added a bit of raw honey and honestly it was rather disgusting, but I was miserable and wanted to give it a try.  So I downed that mug and one more.

I looked up ACV to see what was so great about this and found out that it works to thin mucus, which then allows it to drain from your sinuses, makes sense to me – especially now that I experienced it!  I know now, to take some ACV at the first sign of a cold to avoid a sinus infection – even associated with allergies!

Sinus Infection Buster BOMB

I continued my EO capsules – I had a total of 3 more by 3 PM.

Diffusing Continued

I continued diffusing oils, but switched things up and began using Eucalyptus radiate in the diffuser, continued with the vaporizer and laid in bed.

Rice Sock

I was told to take a sock and add plain rice to it and use it as a warm compress on the areas I was placing oils topically after a short time in the microwave. I applied Breathe Again to my forehead and placed the Rice Sock and it was like heaven.  I could almost feel the heat help the oils permeate my sinuses.  I then alternated the Rice Sock on each ear as I placed more Lemon and Melrose to help with the pressure.

Exodus II

I decided to add an extra dose of oil to my routine and put two drops of Exodus II to my Vita Flex points for sinuses on both feet.  I crawled back into bed.  Exodus II is a powerful blend of oils that are mentioned in the bible numerous times.  This blend is truly combined together to help the body expel disease and dead tissue.  It is very effective for dealing with various problems related to the Immune System.  I got it particularly to help with my Systemic Lupus, and now see that I can add it to specific Vita Flex Points when I am sick to give an additional boost when my body is truly fighting an infection.

Wednesday PM

By 4 PM Wednesday afternoon I was still feeling pretty lousy.  I was frustrated and decided to call our Dr.  I knew that I needed to get my act together and get back in the role of mom and wife and felt it was time for an antibiotic.  As I waited for the Dr. to return my call, I kept at my ritual routine, even taking one more Sinus Infection Buster Bomb.

The Dr. returned my call, he prescribed an antibiotic and called it into the pharmacy.  My husband came home with it two hours later and to my surprise the headache was beginning to subside.  I sat at the dinner table with my first capsule sitting by my plate.  It was taunting me – I knew if I took it I would start having relief soon and I was not too sure how much longer I could survive the pressure and pain of just feeling run down, but I was hesitant.

As I finished my dinner (which consisted of some very potent fresh garlicky salsa – which is also very good for fighting sinus infection) I announced that I would NOT be taking the antibiotic until the morning, I was willing to give my ritual a bit longer to kick in as I was feeling a bit of relief.  So it was decided.  I took a dip in our hot tub, took one more Sinus Infection Buster Bomb capsule, another mug of ACV tea and headed to bed with a diffuser full of Eucalyptus radiate, my Rice Sock, vaporizer, Breathe Again and Exodus II on my Vita Flex points for Sinuses on my feet.

In bed by 8:15 PM – Yep – rest is another key ingredient to the solution!

Thursday AM

I woke up feeling 75% better – no headache at all!!  My ears were still a bit full of pressure, but I was amazed that the headache was completely gone.

I did my normal morning routine with oils and also took another Sinus Infection Buster Bomb, drank another mug of ACV tea, diffused some RC in my diffuser and added Exodus II to my feet.  As I sit here writing this post it is Thursday at noon and I feel 90% better than I did less than 24 hours ago.  The only issue I still have is a bit of ear pressure.

I will continue diffusing and having some more ACV tea, as well as a few more doses of the Sinus Infection Buster Bomb.  I want to make sure I’ve kicked this Sinus Infection in the rear for good!

A couple other notes, I stopped any intake of diary as well as sugar finally on Tuesday.  This is a huge part of battling any type of cold or flu – keep that in mind.

Here is another Sinus Infection DeTox Bath recipe which I will keep in my tool belt – but I hope there is not a next time!

Day in A life of an Oily Mom

Hello to all of you who are visiting for the ‘Day in the Life of an Oiler‘ series which began yesterday over at MyBlessedLife!   We left off yesterday with Denise sharing at Wholesome Mommy – so I am here to start off the rounds for today!

Day In The Life of an Oiler With Border

I am thrilled to take you through a “typical” day in my life and share  how I use Young Living Essential Oils in our home every single day.

Since I began a year ago to incorporate essential oils in our home, we have had some incredible results.  I’ve been able to ditch the antidepressants I was on for over 15 years, healed many injuries which occur everyday – including burns and cuts, calmed our house down of those tiring toddler outbursts and emotional anxiety issues, and so much more.

Grab your self a cup of tea (or coffee in my case – with a dash of raw cream) and sit back and enjoy walking through a day in my life.  Please, remember though…..I have used oils for a year, if you are new to using essential oils or have not even started, please do not get overwhelmed with my routine or what I use.  This is a learning process and also one that is personal to everyone’s budget.  You cannot get all the oils you would ever want or need all at once – so make a wish list and keep adding to your collection, a little bit at a time!

A warning – I am authentic and real, you will see me without a shower in the videos and honestly just being ‘off-the-cuff’ so forgive my bed head and my bathrobe!

Morning Routine

I begin my morning early, I am up at 5:30 AM and go out and chug down a huge glass of water as well as a vegetable capsule that is filled with 5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil.  I may take another capsule in the afternoon, or have a cup of tea and add a few drops of Lemon in that – which is really yummy!

This helps kick start my digestive system.  Lemon is a natural energizer, it hydrates, it detoxifies, and it oxygenates the body so it feels revitalized and refreshed – that is how I want to start my day.  I am off to have my devotional time and get myself set for the day.

When my family begins to get up, we start our breakfast routine which includes NingXia Red, Mineral Essence and Super B’s for me.

NingXia Red® is a powerful antioxidant drink that contains whole Ningxia wolfberry puree—a super blend of blueberry, aronia, cherry, pomegranate, and plum juices, natural stevia extract, grape seed extract, pure vanilla extract, and orange, yuzu, lemon, and tangerine essential oils. Its health benefits include support from head to toe, via a whole body nutrient infusion.

Mineral Essence™ is a balanced, full-spectrum ionic mineral complex enhanced with essential oils.  Since I have been using this to help replenish my magnesium I have slept better, had much higher Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells and Platelet counts, which were alarmingly low due to my Systemic Lupus.  I love being able to outsmart the doctors with my oily remedies, they didn’t know what else I could do to raise the levels I had – so I showed them!

Super B™ is a comprehensive vitamin complex containing eight essential and energy-boosting B vitamins: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, and B12. The complete B-vitamin profile in Super B not only assists in maintaining healthy energy levels, but it also supports the nervous system, aids in maintaining normal cardiovascular function, and helps with internal enzyme reactions

Remember, I already warned you of my horrible bed head!

After we get dressed, my son and I have our little ‘oily routine’ which I’ve created to fit the unique needs he has.  He needs some help during his day managing his emotions {don’t we all!!!}, focusing on tasks, monitoring his energy output and keeping anxiety in check.  In addition, we always apply Thieves to keep him healthy.  I have found a little dab a day will do the trick.

I know many have asked what oils they can use on their children, how to apply and what this looks like.  I thought this was a perfect opportunity to share our routine in hopes it might help you create your own.  Remember, little ones like to do things themselves, so if you can put most of your oils in roller bottles, it will help everyone!

Here is what I use in the video:  Thieves (more about Thieves here), Valor (more on Valor here), Grounding, Peace and Calming (more on Peace and Calming here) and also my Special Recipe, which is:

15 drops Cedarwood EO, 15 drops Lavender EO and 15 drops Vetiver EO in about 1 T carrier oil (Grapeseed or Coconut oil) I use an empty bottle, I had an empty Lavender bottle and filled it and put a roller fitment on top.

I have a lot of goodies I use all day long, so I combined them here for you.  They include:  Young Living Thieves Toothpaste, Lip Balm, ART Skin Care System, Joy EO (more on Joy EO here), Progessence Plus, Thieves Foaming Hand Soap and my Alopecia Recipe, which is:  18 drops Rosemary EO, 18 drops Lavender EO, 18 drops Cedarwood EO, 18 drops Thyme EO and enough 100% pure refined Emu Oil to dilute a bit and allow for easy application.  I mixed and placed in an empty Lavender bottle with a roller fitment on it.

Watch out, yes – I really did show you my bald spot – my husband was a bit mortified I did it – but hey, like I said, I am pretty darn real.

I forgot to mention one other item that I use daily in our home and floats between the kitchen counter, bathroom and in my purse, Animal Scents.  I use it for cuts, scrapes, dry skin and even put it on our dog who likes to lick her underside – A LOT!  Animal Scents™ Ointment is blended with Melaleuca alternifolia and myrrh, two of nature’s most powerful essential oils. It is a protective and soothing salve formulated for external use on animals, but we humans love to use it and benefit too!

Mid Day Routine

I take a few other supplements during the day and wanted to mention those, Sulfurzyme, which is a supplement I use to help with my immune system and Life 5, a high potency Probiotoic.

I run my diffuser all day in my home, switching between calming oils, like Peace and Calming, but also as I sit and write or catch up on emails, I need a boost – on this day I chose to use Abundance, which was a new oil I had just received.  It was perfect!  This diffuser is the one you get included with your Premium Starter Kit, I love it and have two of these in our home.

I end up spending quite a lot of time in my laundry room, I am in there every day….funny how that turns out.  So I certainly wanted to share how I use my oils in my laundry room.  You’ll hear me mention Lavender, Purification, Thieves Household Cleaner as well as my favorite dryer balls, Woolzies.

I love having Thieves Household Cleaner right under my sink – I use it to spray down counters, cabinets, the kitchen table, I spray on fruits and vegetables to remove all the toxic chemicals before we eat – it is so versatile.

I have ventured out to using Essential Oils in recipes too!  I love to experiment and what I enjoy about Young Living 100% Pure Essential Oils is that they can be taken internally.  One of our favorite soups this winter has been a Paleo Thai Chicken Coconut Soup, which uses Lemongrass Essential Oil in the recipe.  { I’ve included below for you. }  Funny enough, I also use Lemongrass to fight off my Tennis Elbow pain when it starts acting up too!

If I have un unexpected issue come up, I find it so helpful that I can either dive into my Essential Oil Pocket Guide to look up a symptom and get ideas on what oils to use, or I can hop over to help monitor conversation on our private Oily Family Room Facebook page.  This guide is so helpful – here I show Deep Relief, Peppermint and Stress Away, all which are a great help for headache relief.  I typically do not get headaches anymore, with my diet changes, oil use and better awareness, but others in my family do, so I am grateful to help them out naturally.

On this particular day we removed all the moldings in our family room and kitchen area, as we were beginning a painting project.  My husband wanted to spray for critters before the new moldings were put back down, and I insisted we forego the chemical bug spray and let me use a mixture of Peppermint EO and water in a spray bottle.  It worked like magic and the house smelled really good and we didn’t have to vacate the premises, which was the best part!

Evening Routine

Our evening routine involves a few more Essential Oils and I use them in a Detox Bath, both myself and for my little guy – I love Lavender, Rosemary and Harmony mixed with Epsom Salt.  I also make a bath salt recipe and will use some of that pre-made mixture and add extra Epsom Salt.

When it is time to settle in for the night, I start the diffuser in my little one’s room.  We alternate between Thieves at night and Peace and Calming.  If he has started a sniffle or sneeze, it is Thieves, otherwise – Peace and Calming is perfect.  I have a total of 6 diffusers in our home, of course two of the Young Living, and also I have managed to add the MIU diffuser, which I love for bedrooms because the light can be turned off and you can determine the output volume and duration – plus the price is very reasonable.  I also have the H2EO Ultrasonic Diffuser, which I also like for the same reasons as the MIU, but it is a bit higher in price.

My bedtime routine involves a few ‘must-have’ oils.  Just before I slip under the covers I roll on some RutaVala, which is great for getting a good nights sleep.  I love that it is small, easy to roll-on and I can use it if I wake in the middle of the night, which I did often and could not go back to sleep.  But for the most part I sleep well and for the entire night now, but it is there in case of an emergency!  I also use Immupower, Exodus II and EndoFlex, putting them on the bottom of my feet and under my big toe.

So, there you have it – a lot of information and A LOT of me!!  I hope you learned a few things and maybe expanded your knowledge of using essential oils.

Paleo Coconut Thai Chicken Soup
Delicious homemade soup perfect for the entire family - fresh vegetables, homemade chicken broth and Lemongrass essential oil add to give it a full flavor everyone will love.
Write a review
  1. 1 whole roasting chicken (I use Coleman Organic from Costco)
  2. Sea Salt
  3. Fresh Ground Pepper
  4. Onion
  5. 4 Cups Frozen Stir-Fry veggies, Costco has a great mix
  6. 4 Cups chopped spinach or Kale
  7. 4 drops Young Living Lemongrass essential oil or 4 T lemongrass
  8. 4 T minced ginger - fresh or I use a minced ginger in a jar
  9. 3 cans Coconut Milk
  10. 6 Cups Chicken Broth
  11. 4 T fish sauce
  12. 2 t chili-garlic sauce
  13. 6 T lime juice
  14. 2 bunches green onions sliced
  15. 1/2 C basil, chopped
  16. 1/2 C cilantro, chopped
Roasting Chicken
  1. I like to use my own homemade chicken broth, so when I make this soup I will roast a while chicken in order to have enough meat, as well as use the bones to make my own broth. If you have chicken and other broth to use, skip this step.
  2. Rinse your chicken, salt and pepper and place a quartered onion inside the cavity. Cover in a roasting pan and cook for 45 minutes at 425 degrees, then lower to 325 for another 45 minutes. Check to see that your chicken has cooked through.
  3. Allow chicken to cool, debone the meat, set aside. Place the carcass in just enough water to cover, bring to a boil and then turn down to simmer for 12 hours. This brings out all the good stuff you want to create a wonderful chicken stock! When it is done cooking, strain the bones and excess skin/meat and you have your own homemade broth.
To Make Soup
  1. 1. Place shredded chicken (about 6 cups) in a pot with the chicken broth, stir and add the coconut milk, turning the heat to medium.
  2. 2. Add the frozen veggies, chopped spinach, ginger, fish sauce, chili-garlic sauce, and lemongrass oil and simmer for about 30 minutes.
  3. 3. Add the chopped green onions, basil, cilantro and lime juice just before you are ready to serve.
  4. 4. This makes a fairly large batch - freeze the leftovers and you have a great dinner already made for later!
The Confident Mom
If you have a minute and need a little laugh, take time to watch my Oily Blooper video – it was tricky to get everyone to behave – especially those furry friends of ours!
